After a broad contextual analysis of the existing sanatorium, the idea was to create a new center to improve and increase the attractiveness of this area of the Val d’Oise (95), rich in natural resources, around Mantes-la-Jolie and the Vexin regional park.
The objective was to export public facilities to the outskirts of this large city of Mantes-la-Jolie, to insert a new complex in the middle of nature and open to the great natural and agricultural landscape, which would be dedicated to sports, health and well-being: a program in the historical line of the Sanatorium of Aincourt.
The new project takes up the principles of the existing project: the insertion in steps on a strong topography, a south facade in steps widely opened in a clearing, a functionalist conception with longitudinal circulations, its external staircases to the work which mark it in the landscape. The new large structures are made of glued laminated wood, the elevation of the main body is also made of wood, and the new wellness center is made of limestone.
